Stone Hill - Part 2

An hour later, he spotted a set of lights on the horizon coming toward him. He started to grin involuntarily, and the ice forming around his mouth cracked and pulled at his beard. Too frozen to feel it, he began jumping up and down, waving his arms excitedly.

Suddenly, as he stepped out of the road to avoid being hit, he slipped and fell into a large snow drift along the side of the highway. He struggled to get back onto his throbbing feet, but it was too late. The vehicle had already rocketed by, completely unaware.
