"You should have told her the truth," my grandfather said as he reeled his lure back from a patch of weeds clinging to the shore by our dock.
"So I should have said, 'Hey mom, Sarah and I are going to go do it at her parent's place. Back by ten!' Yeah - that would have gone over well." I tried skipping a rock across the water, but it landed with a loud plunk.
"I'm just saying it's better not to lie. Then you don't have to remember what you said."
He had a point there.
